SARA Field Day 2026 – New Location!

It’s that time!! Mark your calendars for SARA’s ARRL Field Day 2026 event! ARRL Field Day is June 27-28 with on-air operations starting at 2pm ET and running through Sunday afternoon. This year, SARA is making some changes to our Field Day traditions.

Location – SARA is changing locations for Field Day. This year, SARA will be operating from St. Andrew the Apostle Church located at 4022 Johnson Rd, Norton, OH 44203. Thanks to Harry Edwards KE8ZZR for facilitating this. SARA will operate from the pavilion and field behind the church with access to the Parish Hall for bathrooms and kitchen facilities.

Focus – SARA is focusing more intently on operating, being on the air, and the score. This year, SARA will be operating as a 5A or 6A station (still TBD) with a “free” VHF station focused on 6m and 2m. Signups for people to claim a band + time combination will be coming soon. We will be pushing people to sign up to operate and hold people to that commitment. We will also be focusing on operators finding a ban and “running the frequency” by calling CQ. At the beginning of Field Day, SARA will be holding an educational session on how to do it to get everyone comfortable with the concept.

Get On The Air – SARA will have an operating GOTA station operating under the callsign WW8TF for the duration of the event. This station, when active as a GOTA, will be for unlicensed operators, hams who received their license after June 2025, and “generally inactive hams”. So if you’re a new ham or aren’t really ever on the air, this is your time to shine and get the club more points!

Special Activities – Field Day will have announced special activities during the event. One of them has already been teased – Mark Hayden K4OG will be doing satellite operations with his tracking system. The team is looking to have some other special items too!

More information will be posted in the coming weeks, including the full schedule of events. sign-ups for operating, the setup and tear-down help calls, and more. Meanwhile, browse pictures from previous Field Days.
