What: SARA Parks on the Air (POTA) Event
When: Saturday, June 1st 2024 from 12pm to 4pm (Setup at 11am)
Where: We will be at the Walker Shelter at Portage Lakes Old State Park, also known as Turkeyfoot North Shore Park (Google Maps Link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/aoTfgVajxroqi3T78).
Food: Nick, KD8SLG, will be grilling burgers and hot dogs. If you’d like, bring a side or snack to share!
What to bring: Yourself! If you’d like, you’re welcome to bring a radio, antenna, and power source.
Note: There are active wall outlets at the shelter so if you don’t own a battery, don’t let that stop you from bringing out your rig!
Other items we’re looking for folks to bring to the event:
– Additional radios, antennas, and power sources.
– Band Pass Filters.
– Coax.
– Chokes.
Help we need day of:
– Setup and teardown.
– Operators with their own radios, antennas, and power sources to man and share during the event.

Multi-Club Event: We’ll be activating Portage Lakes the same day that the NOARS club will be having their own POTA event and activating at another park. We’d like to get even more clubs on the air at different parks that day if possible! If you know of another club that would like to organize their own POTA event on June 1st, no matter how big or small, please let that club know about this multi-club event! We will be using the W8WKY and W8OKE repeaters (and possibly others) linked together to coordinate Park-to-Park contacts if we can get multiple clubs involved!
What happens if it rains?: POTA on! We’ll be there in the shelter.
