The N8XPK 53.17 MHz 6 meter repeater has 5 receiver sites in Ohio, each with their own PL frequency. The Akron location used a PL of 107.2 Hz, and was located on a tower that is becoming unavailable this spring.
On April 6th, Marty moved the 53.17 Akron receiver to a new home in Columbiana county Ohio, about 30 miles east of the main transmit site. The new site has antennas about 300′ up, and fills in a what used to be weak spot for receive coverage on the wide-area repeater.
Check out our area repeaters page for an updated map of the Marty’s 6m receiver locations, and information on other area repeaters.
For people that used the Akron receiver on 107.2 Hz, we recommend switching to either the Medina/Lafayette Township site on 114.8 Hz, or the Richfield site at 136.5 Hz. Both have good coverage in the Akron area. Wayne and western Stark county might be well served by either the Medina/Lafayette Township site on 114.8 Hz or Loudonville 110.9 Hz sites. East and south of Akron should try either the new Columbiana 107.2 Hz site or the Stone Creek 123.0 Hz receiver.
