The Bob Bohn Memorial Fox Hunt will be held this coming Saturday, July 20th, 2024. The hunt is named after long-term club member Bob Bohn W8IJG/SK. Bob led many fox hunts for the community throughout the years.
Fox hunting is a fun and easy amateur radio contest. All hams of any license class are welcome as is the public – no transmissions are necessary to hunt the fox. This event is open to everyone – not just members. Teams are welcome – you do not have to do this solo. Participants only need an HT with an S meter and a directional antenna to participate such as a yagi, moxon, etc. There are numerous examples of cheap builds online such as the “Tape Measure Beam” or the “DIY 2m Moxon“. Use of other direction-finding equipment such as offset attenuators, “handifinders”, and SDRs are also permitted.
Fox hunters should rally at Buhler’s in Wadsworth (175 Great Oaks Trl, Wadsworth, OH 44281) by 10:00am and check in with the event coordinator. The start will be at 10:15am with no more participant envelopes/starts after 10:30am. Your vehicle mileage must be checked prior to starting the event. The WINNER is least distance traveled – NOT first arrival. Remember SAFETY FIRST!
