Join us for a unique opportunity to operate amateur radio from the USS Cod Memorial WWII Submarine in Cleveland! This event is open to all licensed hams interested in exploring radio operations onboard this historic submarine.
Event Details
- Date & Time: Sunday, October 12
- Setup: 11am
- Operating Timeframe: 12pm – 5pm
- Teardown: Complete by Sundown
- Location: USS Cod Submarine Memorial, Cleveland, OH
- 1201 N Marginal Rd, Cleveland, OH 44114 (between the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Burke Lakefront Airport)
- Admission: Free! No need to pay admission to the USS Cod.

Operating the Radio Room
- Timeslots: 30-minute increments
- Capacity: Maximum of 2 radio operators per timeslot
- RSVP: Please use the sign-up form to reserve your timeslot.
- Second Operator: If you have a second operator, please provide their name and callsign in the form.
⚠️ Accessibility Note:
The USS Cod is NOT handicap accessible. To operate in the radio room, you must be able to climb down the deck hatch ladder.

Alternative/Open Station
- A second radio station will be set up outside the Cod.
- This is an open station that anyone can use during the event.
- It is not scheduled like the Cod’s radio room, and is intended for:
- Visitors unable to access the Cod’s radio room
- Hams waiting for their turn onboard
- Other visiting operators
Arrival & Preparation
- Arrival: Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled timeslot.
- Identification: Please wear your name badge (if you have one) for easy identification.
- Food: No food will be provided, so plan accordingly.

While the event is free, we kindly ask that you consider making a donation to the USS Cod Memorial as a thank you for allowing us to operate from their historic submarine.

- Note: There can be two operators in the radio room at a time. Operators can alternate between logging and operating, so both participants get the experience of operating from the radio room!
