Canton ARC & SARA Host Winter Field Day 2026

The Canton Amateur Radio Club (CARC) and SARA are teaming up for Winter Field Day 2026, and all operators are invited to participate!

Due to the weather we are following in the steps of other clubs in the area and making some changes in our plans. The good news, we do not need to cancel!

Mike Malloy N8XY has graciously invited us into his house/finished basement for the weekend so we can operate from there.  Please see the information below.

Making this change was a difficult decision by both clubs, but it is a decision that solved many of the travel and teardown issues we were going to need to deal with, especially Sunday. Club member safety was our primary concern.

📜 Winter Field Day Rules

Official rules can be found here:
https://winterfieldday.org/downloads/2026-rules-v3.pdf

Bands & Operating

We are attempting the 12-Band Challenge.

Planned bands include:

  • 160m through 6m
  • 2m, 1.25m (220 MHz), 70cm
  • 900 MHz and 1.2 GHz

We cannot announce specific frequencies or operating times in advance.
Day-of, if you are monitoring the W8WKY repeater, we are happy to share where we are operating at that moment via RF spotting.

If you have 220 MHz, 900 MHz, or 1.2 GHz capability and are within simplex range, please reach out during the event via the repeater.

If we successfully complete the 12-Band Challenge, it earns us a ×6 score multiplier — a huge boost!

Operating Class

  • We will be operating 2I (max of two radios operating indoors at the same time).  If there is enough demand, we may move back to 3I.
  • Logging will be done via N1MM.

🔊 Possible Operating Modes

  • Phone: SSB, AM, FM, DMR, C4FM, etc
  • Digital: JS8Call and FLDigi Modes. (No “WSJT” modes like FT8)
  • CW

All stations will support CW, Phone, and Digital modes and have laptops set up.
