Another SARA Family Picnic has come and gone! The club headed out on a beautiful, sunny, Sunday afternoon to Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton to celebrate the club, camaraderie, and great food.

The club provided burgers, hotdogs, and sausages as a main course. Everyone brought more food than the 36 attendees could possibly eat. However all pitched in to try their hardest to do it! Bob Bohn W8IJG did the honors again with cooking the burgers, dogs, and sausages. Bob’s sausages are becoming legendary in the area’s radio community for sheer awesomeness. For sides there were salads, baked beans, chips and dip, fruit, vegetables, cornbread, stuffed peppers, pickled eggs, cheeses, and more. For dessert there was an unbelievable spread of cookies, pies, cobblers, cupcakes, brownies, and on and on.

Incredible Food

Russ Orr KD8VYT held the traditional 50/50 raffle, raising $28 for the club. Scott Yonally N8SY, the Ohio Section Manager for the ARRL Great Lakes Division, and his wife Janie KB8YPW made the trip from Lexington to party with us. The Ohio Section donated some great “door” prizes – an ARRL Handbook (won by Gary Miller N8OGK), two hats (won by Jason McCormick N8JDM’s daughter Karla & Eric Couture KD8BWG), and an ARRL Tote Bag (won by someone this author missed).

Other than that, there was no official program, just good food and good conversation. See below for the photo gallery.
