Net Announcements – 11/26/2019

The SARA Holiday Party will be held Thursday, December 12th at Beau’s Grille in Fairlawn. This is the same location as last year and by popular request we are returning. December calendars fill up quickly so please reserve December 12th and plan to attend. This event is for SARA members only and their immediate family. Reservations are required and the RSVP form is now available on the Club website w8wky.org or call Gary Shorter AA8CS. RSVPs will close on December 4th because the count must be given to the restaurant.

SARA is now planning for our 2020 meetings and we are actively seeking speakers and topic recommendations. If you have a Ham Radio passion that you would like to share with the group or an idea for a subject that you would like more information on, please contact Gary Shorter AA8CS or Jason McCormick N8EI so we can make plans to incorporate your ideas into next year’s agenda.

SARA’s last license exam session will be held on Saturday, December 7th at the Wayne Co. Public Library in Rittman. The session begins with a check-in period at 10:15 am and the testing begins promptly by 10:30 am. All test elements for Technician (element 2), General (element 3), and Extra (element 4) are offered at all of the SARA scheduled test sessions. No RSVP is required, although a heads-up to Barry Youmans KI8B is always appreciated.

One final operational note… the 147.390 machine, this machine, has suffered a failure of the power amplifier. Normally 90W into the duplexer, this repeater is now transmitting 25W. The amplifier is being sent in for repair. The turn-around time for the amplifier repair will be a few weeks. The SARA Technical Committee will announce when the repeater is restored to full operation. Thanks to John Wagner N8CD of the Technical Committee for diagnosing the problem and overseeing the repairs.
