Net Announcements – 10/22/2019

The fox hunt previously scheduled for Saturday, October 26th has been cancelled due to lack of interest. A spring fox hunt will be considered at the November Executive Council Meeting.

The next meeting of Summit County ARES will be Thursday, October 24th at 7pm. The meeting is at the American Red Cross at 501 W. Market St. in Akron. Contact Ken Dorsey KA8OAD or Greg Gary WB8YYS for more information.

There will be a test MT63-2K net on Friday, October 25th at 8pm. The net will be held on this machine, 147.390MHz with a 1500 Hz passband. MT63-2K can operate over FM analog radios and a computer without any additional equipment such as an interface box; you can send and receive through the speakers and mics. See the club website for more information.

The Fall 2019 Build Project will be a 70cm (Mono-Band) Coax Collinear Array Antenna. The build will be held later this fall with an exact date determined by the participants. This low-cost build is open to everyone, not just club members. Registration is available on the club website or contact Jeff Royer W8TB.

If you are a DMR or D-STAR user, updated codeplugs and programs for the following radios are available on the SARA site: Icom ID-51+2, Icom 4100, Icom 5100, TYT MD380/390, Alinco DJ-MD5, Anytone AT868UV, and Connect Systems CS800D. Look on w8wky.org under Resources -> Radio Programs. The DMR codeplugs have been updated to include Canton, Massillon, Ashland, Medina, and Mansfield repeater zones as well as the newly requested Wayne Co. ARES Standard Zone. Please note that there was a mistake in the TAC314 channel for the Wayne ARES view that has been corrected as of today.
