Net Announcements – 10/15/2019

The next SARA business meeting will be Thursday, October 17th at Beef O’Bradys in Wadsworth. This month George Riedel N1EZZ will be our guest speaker who will share with us the design, construction and performance of his incredible wire loop antenna. You don’t want to miss this one so mark your calendars for October 17th. Plan to attend and bring a friend.

Bob Bohn W8IJG has been asked to lead a Fox Hunt. The hunt will be on Saturday, October 26th at 10am sharp. Participants will start at the Wadsworth Buehler’s parking lot. A lunch will follow with donation to cover food costs. Please note: Registration to demonstrate interest is required. Insufficient advanced registration will lead to the event being canceled. The next meeting of Summit County ARES will be Thursday, October 24th at 7pm. The meeting is at the American Red Cross at 501 W. Market St. in Akron. Contact Ken Dorsey KA8OAD or Greg Gary WB8YYS for more information.

There will be a test MT63-2K net on Friday, October 25th at 8pm. MT63-2K can operate over FM analog radios and a computer without any additional equipment such as an interface box; you can send and receive through the speakers and mics. See the club website for more information.

If you are a DMR or D-STAR user, updated codeplugs and programs for the following radios are available on the SARA site: Icom ID-51+2, Icom 4100, Icom 5100, TYT MD380/390, Alinco DJ-MD5, Anytone AT868UV, and Connect Systems CS800D. Look on w8wky.org under Resources -> Radio Programs. The DMR codeplugs have been updated to include Canton, Massillon, Ashland, Medina, and Mansfield repeater zones as well as the newly requested Wayne Co. ARES Standard Zone.
