Net Announcements – 1/28/2020

As announced at the last meeting, SARA is now offering an Outgoing QSL Bureau Service! Javan Miller N8JLM has volunteered to head up getting everyone’s DX QSL cards off to the ARRL Outgoing Bureau on a quarterly basis. The club will cover the shipping expenses! Now you have NO excuse not to get those DX cards sent out. This service is open to all SARA Members who are also ARRL Members (ARRL rules require ARRL membership). More information is available on our website at https://w8wky.org/sqb/. Thanks to Java Miller N8JLM for volunteering his services in this effort.

SARA is still looking to fill out our presentation schedule for 2020 and we are actively seeking speakers and topic recommendations. We are still looking for speakers on May – July, September, and October. If you have a Ham Radio passion that you would like to share with the group or an idea for a subject that you would like more information on, please contact either Gary Shorter AA8CS or Jason McCormick N8EI so we can make plans to incorporate your ideas into the 2020 agenda.

The XLX330 reflector service operated as part of the Megalink Project and used on the SARA W8WKY digital repeater now supports cross-mode operation between D-STAR and Yaesu System Fusion. D-STAR users can connect to DCS330A and talk to System Fusion users in YSF Room #83603 and vice-versa. If you haven’t setup your D-STAR or YSF radio yet, now is the time! In the next few days DMR Talkgroup 311070 will be added as well and a full usage explanation will be posted.

It’s dues time for SARA! Current members should renew by March 31st. If you aren’t a SARA member, now might be the time to join! SARA funds its operations, including this repeater, almost entirely on dues of its paying members. Help support the club and amateur radio in this area by joining or renewing with SARA today. See w8wky.org for more information.
