Spam Problems with Lists

With SARA’s transition to the use of mailing lists for communications, some people may be having problems with the lists going to spam. The reasons for this are, ironically, rooted in efforts by major e-mail providers attempting to prevent spam. Here are some quick steps for the major mail providers to keep your SARA mailing list(s) out of your spam.

Google Gmail

If an email was incorrectly marked as spam, follow the steps below to remove it from Spam.

  1. On your computer, open Gmail.
  2. On the left, click Spam. If you don’t see Spam, click More.
  3. Open the email.
  4. At the top of the page, click Not spam.

To stop a message from being sent to Spam in the future, you can:

Microsoft Outlook.com/Hotmail

  1. Open the message in the Junk Email folder
  2. At the top of the message, between the address headers and the body will be a yellow-marked ribbon saying “This message was identified as spam. It’s not spam.” Click the It’s not spam link.
  3. Go to Safe senders.
  4. Enter “w8wky.org” in the Safe senders box and click Add.
  5. Select Save in the top right.

 

Microsoft Exchange Online (Web)

  1. Open the message in the Junk Email folder
  2. At the top of the message, between the address headers and the body will be a yellow-marked ribbon saying “This message was identified as spam. We’ll delete it after 25 days. It’s not spam.” Click the It’s not spam link.
  3. Click on the GEAR icon in the upper right, scroll to the bottom of the window that appears, and click Mail under Your app settings.
  4. On the left, go to Mail -> Accounts -> Block or allow
  5. Enter “w8wky.org” in the Safe Senders and Recipients box and click +.
  6. Click save at the top of the pane.

 

Yahoo Mail

  1. Click on the Spam folder.
  2. Select the email.
  3. Click Not Spam at the top of the page.
    -The email will return to your Inbox.
  4. Repeatedly moving message, should teach Yahoo the list(s) aren’t spam.
  5. Add w8wky.org to the AOL mail safe sender’s list in your mail client interface.

 

AOL.com Mail

  1. In the left panel, click the Spam folder.
  2. Click the box to the left of the message that you want to move out of the Spam folder, and then above your list of messages, click the OK NOT SPAM button.
  3. Repeatedly moving message, should teach AOL the list(s) aren’t spam.
  4. Add w8wky.org to the AOL mail safe sender’s list in your mail client interface.
